MELHORES UNIVERSIDADES DO MUNDO PORTUGAL APARECE A PARTIR DO 200º LUGAR
A Universidade de Lisboa e Universidade do Porto surgem entre as 201.ª e 300.ª melhores do mundo.
Seguem-se a Universidade de Aveiro e Universidade do Minho, entre as 400 e 500 melhores, e a Universidade Nova de Lisboa e a Universidade de Coimbra entre os 500.º e 600.º lugares.
Com Harvard em primeiro lugar pelo 20.º ano consecutivo, as universidades norte-americanas continuam no topo do ‘ranking’.
Tal como no ano passado, as instituições anglo-saxónicas continuam entre as dez melhores: oito universidades norte-americanas e duas britânicas estão no topo da edição de 2022 deste ranking global das melhores instituições de ensino superior, que tem sido levado a cabo desde 2003 pela empresa independente Shanghai Ranking Consultancy.
No topo da lista, Harvard está mais uma vez à frente da também norte-americana Stanford. Este ano, outra universidade norte-americana, o Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), ficou em terceiro lugar no pódio, relegando a britânica Cambridge para quarto lugar.
Seguem-se as universidades norte-americanas Berkeley (5.ª) e Princeton (6.ª) e a britânica Oxford (7.ª).
No total, 39 universidades norte-americanas aparecem entre as 100 melhores.
A primeira instituição não anglo-saxónica, a universidade francesa Paris-Saclay, está em 16.º lugar.
O Ranking de Xangai tem em conta seis critérios, incluindo o número de medalhas Nobel e Fields – o Nobel da Matemática – entre estudantes e professores de pós-graduação, o número de investigadores mais citados na sua especialidade e o número de publicações nas revistas Science and Nature.
Este ano, mais de 2.500 instituições foram examinadas para estabelecer a classificação.
2022 Academic Ranking of World Universities
The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) was first published in June 2003 by the Center for World-Class Universities (CWCU), Graduate School of Education (formerly the Institute of Higher Education) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, and updated on an annual basis. Since 2009 the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) has been published and copyrighted by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. ShanghaiRanking Consultancy is a fully independent organization on higher education intelligence and not legally subordinated to any universities or government agencies. ARWU uses six objective indicators to rank world universities, including the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, number of highly cited researchers selected by Clarivate, number of articles published in journals of Nature and Science, number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded™ and Social Sciences Citation Index™ in the Web of Science™, and per capita performance of a university.
